PEACEFUL TENNIS ...

MAX MIRNYI and his father Nikolai were on hand to promote their new book "Peaceful Tennis" on Monday at the Kremlin Cup 2003 in Moscow. The book, written by Nikolai - also Max's coach - contains details about his son's life as well as tennis stories from young talent to ATP star. The two took part in a book signing before posing for photographs.
"We first made it available in Belarus a few weeks ago and it was really popular with the fans," said Nikolai. "It's a book of the life stories we've had from being involved in tennis." The book's title "Peaceful Tennis" is pronounced "Mirnyi Tennis" in Russian, playing on the meaning of the family's last name.

Fans of Max Mirnyi will be delighted to learn that the genial Belarussian has written a book of stories about his life on the tennis tour.

The 6ft 5ins 'Beast from Belarus', who was helped by father Nikolai, has entitled the book 'Peaceful Tennis', a reference to the English translation of his surname.

Mirnyi's tome may struggle to compete with another tennis autobiography, due out next month, in which Boris Becker promises to plot his eventful life "the way it really was".
