Mirnyi Will Move to No. 1 in Doubles

Max Mirnyi's consistent play in doubles will be awarded next week when the player from Belarus joins the exclusive list of players to hold the No. 1 World Ranking in Doubles.

By reaching the quarterfinals at Roland Garros, Max Mirnyi of Belarus will claim the World No. 1 in doubles in the ATP Entry Rankings when the new rankings are announced next week.

The 25-year-old from Minsk has captured 16 career doubles titles including three this year. He won his first title of the season after teaming with Roger Federer in Miami and followed by winning titles in Estoril and Monte Carlo with frequent doubles partner Mahesh Bhupathi, also a former World No. 1 in doubles.

A top notch singles player as well, Mirnyi is currently in 25th position in the ATP Champions Race and No. 41 in the Entry Rankings. Mirnyi won his first career singles title in February by capturing the ABN AMRO World Tennis title in Rotterdam.
